Intro to Reiki

Reiki is an energy healing art. It activates the subtle energy that flows through your body. It was developed by a doctor who studied how the body wants to heal itself and how to optimize this healing. It doesn't do this healing instantaneously. Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatments; it is a complimentary art like acupuncture that can assist with your goals, dreams and wishes. It works more along the lines of removing blockages that are not helping you take steps towards healing or other life improvements.
To learn about subtle energy one can look at the traditions of Ayurveda from India and (TCM) Traditional Chinese Medicine which is not just in China. Both of these talk about pathways in the body similar to the pathways of your nerves, veins, and arteries.
In a reiki session you will lie flat and receive healing energy from several hand positions on different locations on your body delivered by a trained Reiki practitioner. Simply put, it is adult naptime. You are allowed to talk or remain quiet during a session. For anyone who is not up for the firm touch of massage, Reiki can often be beneficial for people with multiple traumas who prefer a gentle touch. Reiki is filled with positive intentions and if it ever feels like too much you are allowed to stop the session at any point your choose.
